Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course. However, it is recommended that candidates have a personal trainer certification or a bachelor’s degree in a health or fitness field.

Exam Details

You have 365 days from your date of purchase to pass your exam. After completing the course, you will take a timed online exam consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions. The exam must be completed within 90 minutes. To pass the exam, you must achieve a minimum score of 70%; if you do not, you have up to three attempts to reach this requirement.

Who is this course for?

The NASM PBC program is an advanced specialization intended for fitness professionals, bodybuilding and physique competitors, and fitness enthusiasts. There are no official prerequisites, but it's recommended to have a fitness credential, such as being a Certified Personal Trainer, or a bachelor's degree in a related field.

How long will I have access to the NASM PBC program content and exam?

You will have one year from the day of registration to take your exam. An extension can be purchased by calling Member Services at 1-800-460-6276.

How does the NASM PBC exam work?

The Physique and Bodybuilding Coach program exam is taken online inside your customer portal. You'll have 365 days from the date of purchase, to study and complete the exam. This exam features:

  • 100 multiple-choice questions

  • 90 minutes to complete

  • Open-book format

  • 70% required to pass

  • Three exam attempts included

What if I don't pass the NASM PBC exam?

Don't worry! You'll have three attempts to pass the exam, and you can purchase additional retests by calling Member Services at 1-800-460-6276.

Does the NASM PBC specialization expire?

No. Once you pass the exam, your Physique and Bodybuilding Coach specialization with NASM will never expire.
