The NASM CPT exam is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) and is considered a gold standard in the industry. In order to meet NCCA regulations and keep the integrity of the NASM CPT exam, the exam development and test taking process must follow strict guidelines.

NASM cannot provide candidates the exam questions prior to the actual live exam. That is why the practice exam questions are different from the actual exam questions. Giving candidates the exact questions ahead of time ruins the integrity of the exam and violates NCCA accreditation guidelines. However, the practice exam questions cover the exact same content domains as the live exam. In addition, the exam prep material is yet another tool designed by the NASM Education Team to help candidates learn the material necessary to pass the CPT exam and become better trainers.

In addition, the exam is written by numerous Subject Matter Experts (not one or two individuals) to help ensure the exam is unbiased. For this reason students might feel the “language” is a little different on the final exam versus the practice exams and study materials. However, all questions on the exam go through a rigorous process and are statistically validated before being allowed to be on the exam itself.
